I am a big fan of Nicolas Cage. I am also a big fan of suspense/thriller movies.
Knowing has both. I loved watching this movie except for the ending part. Script writer has no way other than ending the movie as he ended it.
The movie is kind of supernatural + suspense + thriller + father-son relationship + global warming warning combination. The movie starts in 1959 when a cute little girl, Lucinda, hears voices all the time. Her elementary school principal decided to ask the kids to write something about the future and bury all the writings in a time capsule. The idea is to open the time capsule 50 years later, that is 2009. Little girl writes what she predicted which is chillingly true.
Fast forward 50 years. Nicolas Cage's son (Caleb) studies in the same elementary school and receives the note from the little girl when the time capsule is opened in 2009. The note is full of numbers. Caleb couldn't understand the note and show it to his father. Nicolas cage is the astrophysics professor in MIT, he accidentally finds out the meaning of the note.
The rest you should see it in the screen. If your local theatre doesnt play this movie, get a DVD and watch it. The movie subtly warns about global warming.
All the pollution producers of this world must watch this movie. hey guys, have you ever thought about what will happen when the ozone layer is completely punctured? Watch the movie and find out.
Just like all hollywood movies, casting is perfectly done in this movie. Nic Cage is the perfect guy to play the lead character (John Koestler) in this movie. The boy Caleb is played by Chandler Canterbury; Lara Robinson played the role of little girls Lucinda (girl in 1959) and Abby (girl in 2009). Both kids gave the superb performance. These kids have bright future in Hollywood. Lara may come up like Dakota Fanning. I won't be surprised if Chandler is as famous as Tom Cruise when he grows up.
Overall, this is a great movie if you like suspense thrillers.
