Default Unnai Pol Oruvan - Movie Review

This latest Kamal Hasan movie is a serious two hour narration on one of the most relevant issues of today-terrorism!
The story is about a common man's anger towards terrorism and what he does to revenge it out - the path he takes - blood for blood or more literally a bomb for a bomb.
The entire movie happens in a single day and starts with Kamal planting numerous bombs in and around the city and calling up the commissioner of police Maarar(Mohan Lal) with a threat to blasts the bombs unless he fulfills his demands. How the police team handles the situation ,why Kamal has to do this and whether the bombs really caused blood shed forms rest of the film.
Kamal as the common man and Lal as the Cop give a splendid performance as usual. The simple back drop ,locations, missing masala spices aka songs, inserted fight sequences are compensated by the splendid casting ,performance and dialogues.
No one is a hero in the movie..everybody plays their part and for once there is no just one super cop who can handle everything as in all other Cop movies ! The sarcastic political humour between Lakshmi (chief secretary) and Lal,the hit on the hero actor (Sriman is trying to be Vijay ?) all fall in line with the story and everyday happennings in our country. And is it really the CM's house they have shot the scenes (I mean the real TN CM)...and yes the real CM plays a role too (well, almost).
For once it is not just Kamal who stays in your mind after watching the movie (I have mostly felt that way after watching Kamal movies)...every character from the two cops assissting Mohan Lal to Lakshmi to Lal remain in one's mind.
The music is by Shruthi Haasan and though there are no songs in the movie the back ground score is nothing spectacular but it doesnt slow the spirit of the film!
The movie speeds through with twists and turns(especially the one towards the end) but there is one factor missing..entertainment...Kamal is always on a roof top ,Lal is always inside a room filled with police and monitors...it is definitely not a visual treat!!
Everytime a bomb blast occurs,a hostage situation is created,a flight is hijacked in the name of terrorism every one of us keep asking why the innocent civilian ...this movie is all about feeding that anger ...a daring effort to deliver a thought as effectively as one could ..and whether that is the real solution is a big question mark...but if you are looking for just a movie to relax to show you some real entertainment and need atleast a couple of laughters this perhaps is not the one!
